A Special Yoga foundation training will give you the tools to bring the children in your care to a space of calm, promoting learning, healing and joy.

This Special Yoga for Special Children course provides you with the knowledge and techniques to support children with a diverse range of additional needs. On completion, you’ll be confident to assist children with diagnoses of cerebral palsy and PMLD in addition to complex needs and anxiety disorders, and to guide groups or 1:1 in holistic practices to foster their physical, emotional and mental well-being.

Course Structure & Timetable

The course will be taught over a series of live webinars and study groups plus self guided pre-recorded video and written content.

Webinar Dates

There are four teaching webinars which are hosted on Zoom.
The first webinar is slightly longer, giving students and teachers some time to get to know each other and the teachers to put students into Study Groups.

Opening: Saturday 14th September 2024 2.00pm - 4.30pm
Webinar Two: Saturday 12th October 2.00pm - 4.00pm
Webinar Three: Saturday 9th November 2.00pm - 4.00pm
Closing: Saturday 30th November 2.00pm - 4.00pm

Study Group Dates

In smaller study groups you’ll meet once a month to work on assignments, helping you embody your experiences and learning. The sessions are also a valuable chance to compare experiences applying Special Yoga in your personal work/home situations with the children.

Exact dates and times are agreed by consensus among the members of each group but will be weeks commencing 29th September, 27th October, 16th November 2024 and 5th January 2025. Groups will be confirmed at the opening weekend.

Pre-recorded video and written content

This will be released gradually throughout the course and includes:

  • Special Yoga Precepts and Self Learning,

  • Practice for the Children,

  • Pranayama - Breathwork,

  • Asana - Postures

  • Singing and Sound,

  • Relaxation,

  • Massage, Touch and Energy Medicine,

  • Mindfulness,

  • Working with the Feet,

  • Hemiplegia,

  • Quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy

  • PMLD

Personal Assignments

There are three personal assignment for you to complete on this course.

Certification and Time Commitment

In addition to the 8.5 hours of webinar teaching plus 4 hours of study group teaching you can expect to set aside two hours per week for the duration of the course to work through the pre-recorded and video content and to complete your personal assignments.

If you are planning to work with children using the Special Yoga methodology and practices you learn on this course you will need to be insured.
To become insured you will need to show evidence of your training in the form of a certificate. Please note that to become certified you will need to:

  1. Attend and fully participate in all webinars and study groups and complete all study group assignments.

  2. Submit all personal assignments on time and reach the standard required as assessed by their Study Group Leader.

  3. Complete a minimum of 85% of the course content.

Different students work at different speed so two hours per week is an average of the time you will need to commit to complete the course. Please plan ahead and set aside this time before the course starts.

Course Cancellations and Refunds

Refunds

If you have booked onto a course, you will not be eligible for a refund unless it has been cancelled by us.

If you have signed up to a payment plan you are reminded that when purchasing you have agreed to continue to make those payments until the full amount of the course fee is paid.

If the course you have booked has a wait list we occasionally agree a transfer to a later intake. Please contact info@specialyoga.co.uk to enquire if this is the case.
