Who we are
The Special Yoga Centre (SYC) is a registered charity supporting children with special needs through one-to-one yoga therapy, outreach work in schools, group classes and parent support groups.
The foundation block of the centre’s philosophy is one of inclusion. A place where everyone can come together regardless of age, ability, religion or ethnicity and enjoy the practice of yoga.
We are also a
Centre of Excellence for children’s yoga teacher trainings, including courses specifically tailored for working with children with special needs.
What we do At the heart of The Special Yoga Centre is the work that we do through our yoga therapy programmes - supporting children, young adults and families living with special needs.
The primary intention of yoga therapy for children with special needs is to help each and every child in reaching their fullest potential with regard to their physical, mental and emotional health and well-being.

Specialised breathing exercises and deep relaxation help to:
• improve concentration
• reduce hyperactivity
• relieve respiratory ailments
• develop the ability to relax
• release tension
• reduce fear, frustration and stress
• enrich the quality and quantity of sleep
